One picture per kid per week for a year.

This was the first week that it was actually hard to pick just one.   This challenge has given me the reason to take pictures often, and I’m getting a bit better at pulling the camera out.

So here we are in a new year and I’m super excited.

Here’s to my boys turning 1…going places other than work and the doctor…walking and talking…snuggles and books and library time…hilarity…hopefully better organization in our house…300 miles run by me (but not at one time)…happiness…more blogging…gratefulness…a new couch…beach time…pool time…family time…more photography and graphic design…maybe yoga or a dance class???…quiet time and loud time…aquariums…weddings…And very soon…our very first Perry Christmas video.

Happy January Second!

christmas time

29 Nov

this is not actually a post about Christmas. This is a post using the holidays as an excuse as to why I haven’t been here in a while (and for the photo bomb). But to be honest…I like photo bombs.

What can I say? I’m a visual person.

So, here they are at a sweet 9 months.

This might be my favorite picture of all time.

This weekend we’re going to see Santa! Wish us luck! Next week….mama’s getting a new camera. Watch out for video bombs!

Who likes going to bed at 8:30?

Who says that’s not ok?

Happy Halloween!

2 Nov

Witness the cuteness of Batman and Night Owl.

I’m sorry for all the similar pictures…but it was our first time trying to take pictures in public (we don’t go many places…still) and we were a bit nervous.

The entire time Win (Batman) was coughing up a storm. Just coughing and coughing and coughing. Then I saw a piece of grass hanging out of his mouth and realized he had just tried to swallow it (way to go mom and dad).

Win was Batman. Holt was Night Owl. Who is Night Owl, you ask? Well friends…you see there are different universes of comic books. And the different universes have characters (at least that’s what the hubs tells me). For example, Spiderman and Batman are not in the same universe and will not be in the same comic book (or so I’m told). So apparently, Batman is in the DC universe and Night Owl is a “batman-like-character” in another universe that’s not DC or Marvel (written by the guy who wrote V for Vendetta…bet you didn’t know that that was a comic book first…you learn something new every day).

In other words (whew), our kids were the same thing for Halloween…just in different universes. Get it? Funny right?

Truth be told, I found a really awesome owl costume pattern from Martha Stewart (you can find it here) and the hubs came up with the rest. I found the batman insignia on pinterest and made the hats from this pattern. I made them with felt and probably should have used stretchy fabric…but I’m lazy. I added the ears free hand while the boys were napping and we watched our $2 copy of Reality Bites (I LOVE that movie).

The rest of the clothes we had and will still use after Halloween.

I’m pretty excited about our first Halloween. There was no trick-or-treating…but there will be plenty in the future. For the Perrys…we had an early night…like usual.

Beautiful wedding weekend

1 Nov

This past weekend I was lucky enough to participate in my great friend, Mary Beth’s, wedding. Here are a few snapshots from the weekend.

She was such a beautiful bride and the entire day was full of love (even though Hurricane Sandy was right outside). Mary Beth put on a strong, sweet face and didn’t let a little lot of rain phase her.

It was the perfect day.

We all know and love Pinterest. To me…such a genius idea. Keeps me organized (or…just helps me waste time). Here’s some really fantastic recently pinned stuff.

I am a big fan of shopping early for Christmas gifts (as in shopping in July). When I see something that I think someone will like, I try to get it. Then I’m not scrambling 2 days before Christmas. I’m also a HUGE fan of exploiting my kids for my own gain kid-made Christmas gifts. I do think they’re heartfelt and can sometimes be more meaningful than junk that’s going to be thrown away in a year. Here is a great gift idea from theycallmedomestiCate

This is just fantastic.

Ninja’s really do rule. While we’re on this subject, you should check out two of my nephews’ video…“Ninjandrew”. It’s pretty fantastic.

I’m sure these will be my kids one day (sorry family).

Seven months

6 Sep

Oh how time does fly…and all the other cliches you can think of.

Here they are in all their seven month babbling, teething, almost crawling, drooling, happy, smiling, giggling, squealing glory.

I loved this picture so much from an earlier “shoot”…I think I want to take one at every month. If only I had thought of it earlier.

The best

Mama Sashi’s 70th Birthday

4 Sep

Our boys are super lucky to have two great grandma’s…one of whom just turned 70. W & H are her 10th and 11th grand-children (I know…insane. The Perrys love having babies :)).

My sister-in-law wrote a FANTASTIC article about my mother-in-law. You can find it here.

Mama Sashi (her name is Sally) is a grandmother that any grandchild would want: caring, generous, and a little crazy…in the best way ;).

This was our first big trip out of town and it went SO WELL WE COULDN’T BELIEVE IT. We drove in the evenings so the boys would sleep and slipped them into bed when we reached our destination. It worked out so well. It also didn’t hurt that that same sister-in-law (and the hub’s brother and their four children) opened her house and made everything so convenient. We didn’t even have to bring pack-and-plays! It was such a help and made traveling so easy.

Here are some pics from the day:

Mama Sashi and her boys and grandkids:

One of the gifts we gave her was “Seventy Things we Love about Sashi”. Same sister-in-law organized that…yes, she is a superwoman.

The birthday girl!

Happy Birthday Mama Sashi!

happy jesus!

9 Aug

Last Friday our boys were baptized.

It was a super special time.

Here are some highlights.

My mom is a twin (I know…twins are everywhere). This is my mom and my aunt (her twin).

The hubs’ mom and us.

Our sweet family.

Daddy and Holt.

Mama and Win.

Grammy and Holt

It was hot. We probably won’t plan another outdoor baptism at the end of July. But, it was beautiful. We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant to celebrate afterward (as we do). There were 9 children there (8 of which were 8 and under) and it went swimmingly. I couldn’t believe how great of a day it was.
