26 Jan

So…here is the first video from the new camera.

It’s about our Christmas.  But I feel like it’s been just enough time that you’re not going to vomit from overexposure to red and green and you might actually laugh at the little people that are our children.

Please excuse the unmentionables.

christmas time

29 Nov

this is not actually a post about Christmas. This is a post using the holidays as an excuse as to why I haven’t been here in a while (and for the photo bomb). But to be honest…I like photo bombs.

What can I say? I’m a visual person.

So, here they are at a sweet 9 months.

This might be my favorite picture of all time.

This weekend we’re going to see Santa! Wish us luck! Next week….mama’s getting a new camera. Watch out for video bombs!

Happy Halloween!

2 Nov

Witness the cuteness of Batman and Night Owl.

I’m sorry for all the similar pictures…but it was our first time trying to take pictures in public (we don’t go many places…still) and we were a bit nervous.

The entire time Win (Batman) was coughing up a storm. Just coughing and coughing and coughing. Then I saw a piece of grass hanging out of his mouth and realized he had just tried to swallow it (way to go mom and dad).

Win was Batman. Holt was Night Owl. Who is Night Owl, you ask? Well friends…you see there are different universes of comic books. And the different universes have characters (at least that’s what the hubs tells me). For example, Spiderman and Batman are not in the same universe and will not be in the same comic book (or so I’m told). So apparently, Batman is in the DC universe and Night Owl is a “batman-like-character” in another universe that’s not DC or Marvel (written by the guy who wrote V for Vendetta…bet you didn’t know that that was a comic book first…you learn something new every day).

In other words (whew), our kids were the same thing for Halloween…just in different universes. Get it? Funny right?

Truth be told, I found a really awesome owl costume pattern from Martha Stewart (you can find it here) and the hubs came up with the rest. I found the batman insignia on pinterest and made the hats from this pattern. I made them with felt and probably should have used stretchy fabric…but I’m lazy. I added the ears free hand while the boys were napping and we watched our $2 copy of Reality Bites (I LOVE that movie).

The rest of the clothes we had and will still use after Halloween.

I’m pretty excited about our first Halloween. There was no trick-or-treating…but there will be plenty in the future. For the Perrys…we had an early night…like usual.

Seven months

6 Sep

Oh how time does fly…and all the other cliches you can think of.

Here they are in all their seven month babbling, teething, almost crawling, drooling, happy, smiling, giggling, squealing glory.

I loved this picture so much from an earlier “shoot”…I think I want to take one at every month. If only I had thought of it earlier.

The best

happy jesus!

9 Aug

Last Friday our boys were baptized.

It was a super special time.

Here are some highlights.

My mom is a twin (I know…twins are everywhere). This is my mom and my aunt (her twin).

The hubs’ mom and us.

Our sweet family.

Daddy and Holt.

Mama and Win.

Grammy and Holt

It was hot. We probably won’t plan another outdoor baptism at the end of July. But, it was beautiful. We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant to celebrate afterward (as we do). There were 9 children there (8 of which were 8 and under) and it went swimmingly. I couldn’t believe how great of a day it was.

18 Jul

I could just eat them up…

Win….I just spit up and I’m not too happy about tummy time, thank you very much.

hi mommy

Man…I look good.

The cutest babies EVER!!!! I’m just a bit biased.

4th of July and FIVE months

4 Jul

It’s the fourth of July…my boss’ favorite holiday (there are no expectations for gifts or requirements to spend any time with family…we call him Bob-humbug around Christmas time).

It also happens to be 2 days after the boys five month birthday.

I know I say this every month, but I just can’t believe they are five months old!!!

We had all sorts of lofty plans today…go for a run, try out the baby pool, walk on the beach, maybe even try out the big pool. But alas, sickness has struck the Perry household again. So, we’ll just be hanging out indoors for now. It’s super hot, too! That doesn’t hurt the urge to stay inside. So, instead of being outside, the boys will nap…and I MAY just get some of those things done on my to-do list…hopefully!

For now…some updated pics of the boys.

They have both learned to ROLL OVER! And they both love their new exersaucer. It’s very exciting to see them in that crazy contraption learning how to play with all the toys.

25 Jun

This will be the cover of the boys’ first rap album. It will be called “so fresh so clean”. The duo will be called Twinatopia. What what?!

the new normal

6 Jun

This used to be a blog about my life…well, I guess it is still a blog about my life, but my life has drastically changed (as you might have guessed).

I remember finding and blogging about fun designy things online; blogging about things I was cooking or doing around the house; or even blogging about my own photography or paper work.

I took a brief, and needed, hiatus from my previous life to welcome two new lives to the mix.

Now, I’m ready for that hiatus, that sabbatical if you will, to end. I’m ready to get back to being my old self…or I guess my new architect-crafter-blogger-runner-wifey-mama self. I’m rather excited about this new normal. I’m excited to figure out how to juggle it all and be ok with it. Because I believe it’s possible and important to be a mother on top of all the other things that made me me before that oh-so-important role was bestowed upon me, while still remembering AND BEING that person before the babes.

I know I’ll be a better mom if I ensure that my relationship with myself and my relationship with the hubs are taken care of FIRST. It’s rather liberating when you say it that way.

So…to start off (again) on this venture…here’s a little something I found that I loved.

I can look at this image and see so many parts of myself on either side.

I love math and reason, love being in control of certain things, and I try to be super practical; but I’m also super messy and love dance, movement, art, photography, and all things creative.

This may have to be the new desktop on my computer. It’s such a great inspiration.

So…here’s to new chapters, new novels, new epics. Let’s get going.

four months

2 Jun

It’s hard to believe, but the boys are four months old!

It’s such a cliche to say that the time has flown by. But it has…and it’s also gone completely at a snail’s pace too. We’ve been through so much with these boys and they’re only four months old. Who knows what is in store for the future? But, I am so happy to say that I am so lucky I get to be present for it.

Today is also the first day of Camp (the place where the hubs and I met, became friends, fell in love, and, eventually, got married). We’re taking the boys over to greet the first campers of the summer and to introduce the boys to the place that is the most special to their mom and dad. I really can’t wait.

Here are a few things we’ve learned about the boys in the past 4 months…

They pretty much only cry when they’re hungry or tired (turns out they’re tired quite a bit).

They are not robots or the same baby (we always want them to eat the exact same amount at each feeding and as the other baby…it’s taken us a while to learn this one…).

They are sweet and love to smile.

They love staring at mommy and papi.

Holt may be a thumb/finger sucker one day (once we stop swaddling them).

They LOVE to be swaddled and have a hard to going to sleep if they’re not.

Holt is a cuddlebug.

Win would get up and walk away if he could.

Win looks like Win and Holt looks like Holt (finally!).

They like to go to bed between 5:30 and 6:30 (last night they went TWELVE HOURS between feedings…it was 5pm to 5am, but STILL).

They love to sit up and look around and only like to be held like “babies” when they’re sleepy.

They really are the best things that have ever happened to us (except for each other).
