the friendly market

11 Oct

Ya know what’s awesome about living at the beach (well at least living where I do)? Our farmer’s market is called the Friendly Market.

The name surely comes from the fact that the market is on the corner of Friendly Road and Bridges Street. What’s really awesome is that the market is only a few years old. It used to be open only 1 day a week, but NOW, it’s open 7 days a week. So proud of our small town.

Here are a few moments of the day.

how did this huge pumpkin end up with the TINIEST stalk? magic of mother nature

The goal of the trip was to get some apples to make apple sauce. there were apples that I’d never heard of before. I don’t have a ton of experience with a farmer’s market, so I’m only familiar with grocery store apples.

The vendor let me taste an apple on the house. She was super helpful in the selection of apples for apples sauce. She basically told me to use all kinds of apples for a really good sauce. Hopefully it will turn out well. I’ll let you know.

The pumpkins were also really beautiful.

The Friendly Market also has quite a few vendors that sell handmade goods as well as food.

Aren’t these clocks awesome?

I also went “dumpster diving” as the hubs calls it (actually I just went to a few thrift stores). I got some shirts that will hopefully be repurposed as well as a chair that you will be hearing about soon.
